Senior Manager, Database Technology Operations

Do you enjoy collaborating with internal stakeholders in designing and maintaining highly available and scalable database systems? This role will also work closely with the application engineering, support and product teams, own the solution opportunity from a technical perspective, engage with internal customers towards successful completion of the assigned projects.

Our ideal candidate will possess hands on experience in working on relational and non-relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server/DB2/PostgreSQL/MySQL/Redis/Couchbase/Cassandra) on AWS and/or on-prem infrastructure.

Experience in deploying databases (on-prem/AWS) and production support with performance tuning and root cause analysis is critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Enable the delivery of high-quality service of database infrastructure support and ensure service support and delivery processes are in place to meet business needs.
  • Own and manage the entire database portfolio (Oracle, MSSQL, DB2, AWS RDS MySQL/PostgreSQL/Aurora MySQL/ Aurora PostgreSQL/Couchbase/Cassandra). Leading virtual teams, 3rd parties and 3rd party services.
  • Handle internal and third-party service review meetings covering performance, service improvements, quality and processes.
  • Design highly available (HA) and scalable database solutions and advocating best practices across on-prem and AWS Cloud.
  • Design and implement DR solutions for large scale database systems.
  • Collaborate with architecture, engineering, support, teams in designing, deploying and database solutions.
  • Handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment independently.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills:  Database performance tuning, issue resolutions, on-going replication issues.
  • Automation of Day-to-day administration and Database Maintenance in Cloud/or on-premises
  • Define and manage best practices around database security and help to ensure security and compliance across all database systems.
  • Identify and drive methodologies and processes that support world class standards for production stability and identify and manage key targeted areas for improvement.
  • Conduct regular team huddles, weekly problem-solving workouts, process confirmation reviews and 1x1 coaching sessions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working in Fintech, Ecommerce, IT or consulting organization, of which at least 6-7 years of experience designing and implementing database systems in on-premises and AWS cloud. Hands-on experience is a must.
  • Professional experience working on on-prem/AWS databases such as Oracle/ MS SQL Server / DB2 / MySQL / PostgreSQL / Couchbase / Cassandra databases.
  • Hands on experience in managing at least one database replication technology: Oracle Goldengate / IBM MQ / HVR (Fire Tran)/ AWS DMS.
  • Prior experience in leading virtual teams, 3rd parties and 3rd party services.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience of using SQL & NoSQL datastores
  • Hands-on experience AWS Cloud, preferred certification in AWS
  • Experience with database DevOps practices, infrastructure as a code automation tools such as terraform, AWS Cloud Formation.
  • Experience in implementing solutions using flavors of Linux operating systems, load balancers, HA/DR & storage architectures.
  • Experience in database migrations from on-prem to AWS Cloud,

Salary

The base salary range is $125,000 – $160,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus that aligns with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and competencies.
