Job Summary

As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the operations of computer systems related to operating systems, servers, and end-user workstations.

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer for a 6-month contract opportunity that is hybrid in Newark, DE. The candidate selected will be responsible for the operations of computer systems related to operating systems, servers, and end-user workstations. Although the Senior Systems Engineer is not responsible for writing new application software, the candidate must demonstrate an understanding of how software behaves in order to deploy, configure and troubleshoot systems. Additionally, the candidate is expected to research new technologies and leverages optimization techniques to ensure that systems operate efficiently.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide oversight and support to the company’s client, server and cloud environments

  • Establish and maintain technology standards for the company’s client, server and cloud environments

  • Prepare, test and manage disaster recovery plans and methods

  • Provide guidance and mentor technology staff

  • Provide technical guidance for design and implementation of new technology

  • Build, manage and support Windows and Linux based servers on VXRail and Nutanix

  • Maintain and manage server and related hardware

  • Monitor and manage server and related device performance

  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and problems, independently and in a team

  • Create and maintain documentation, required for the operation and support of the company’s client, server and cloud environments

  • Manage and support all aspects of Active Directory and Entra ID

  • Manage and support all or part of technology-based projects

  • Manage and support virtual hardware, including networking, storage, and infrastructure

  • Manage and support endpoint security systems, such as anti-virus, patch management and mobile device management (MDM)


What You’ll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related program or related area or 7 years of corporate experience in a similar position.

  • Strong experience with enterprise level virtualization technologies such as VMware, Nutanix, Citrix or Microsoft

  • Experience with vendor relations and support

  • Experience with hyper-converged server platforms, (VXRail, Nutanix)

  • Strong experience with storage and disk virtualization technologies

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Server Operating Systems 2012R2, 2016, 2019

  • Experience with Red Hat or CentOS Linux Operating Systems

  • Experience with Microsoft client device Operating Systems (Windows 10, 11)

  • Experience with disaster recover planning, management and methods

  • Strong experience with all aspects of Active Directory, Entra ID and its management

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with management and support of devices within data centers

  • Experience with design and architecture of systems and solutions

  • Experience with the configuration and management of monitoring solutions such as Manage Engine OpsManager

  • Strong verbal and documentation skills

  • Ability to participate on an on-call rotation for support and escalation

  • Experience with certificate-based security and management

  • Experience with mobile device management

Desired:

  • Microsoft certifications

  • VMware or Nutanix AHV certifications

  • Citrix certification

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard and monitor
