Job Summary:

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the shipping and receiving processes within the organization. This role involves ensuring that all incoming and outgoing shipments are processed efficiently and accurately, maintaining inventory control, and providing exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Shipping Duties:

    • Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to company and customer specifications.
    • Generate and attach shipping labels and documentation.
    • Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries.
    • Ensure timely dispatch of goods and adherence to delivery schedules.
  2. Receiving Duties:

    • Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, damage, and quality.
    • Unload and unpack received goods, and verify items against purchase orders and packing lists.
    • Document and report discrepancies, damaged goods, or missing items.
    • Update inventory records and input data into the company's inventory management system.
  3. Inventory Management:

    • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels and storage practices.
    • Perform regular inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies.
    • Organize and manage storage areas to ensure efficient access and safety.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed records of shipments, receipts, and inventory levels.
    • Prepare and submit reports on shipping and receiving activities.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  5. Customer Service:

    • Address and resolve shipping and receiving inquiries and issues promptly.
    • Communicate effectively with vendors, carriers, and internal departments.
    • Provide exceptional customer service and support to ensure satisfaction.
  6. Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow safety protocols and best practices in handling and storing goods.
    • Adhere to company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
    • Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items, as needed.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require standing for extended periods, lifting heavy packages, and working in a warehouse or shipping environment.
  • Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on business needs.
