Job Description

The Staff Accountant assists the day-to-day corporate accounting department activities and all related systems and processes, including general accounting, accounts payable, fixed assets, leases, and intercompany transactions. This role will work with accounting and finance counterparts at both domestic and international locations. This position also prepares journal entries and account reconciliations. This position would be ideal for a candidate who not only enjoys the various facets of accounting but also finds satisfaction in repeatable, high-quality work outcomes. This role will collaborate closely with their Accounting Senior, Manager, and Corporate Controller. The ideal candidate is patient, conscientious, and committed to maintaining meticulous accounting records.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned monthly close tasks & procedures, strictly adhering to timelines and established protocols.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and document supporting balances.
  • Assist with the implementation of new global accounting and finance software.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the global financial audit
  • Partner with external tax preparers for the timely completion of the annual tax provision and state and federal tax returns.
  • Review and update internal control procedures and policies as needed. 
  • Collaborate with international divisions to ensure global compliance on internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Work with domestic and international offices on the treatment and reconciliation of intercompany transactions (accounts receivable, accounts payable, loan principal and interest, etc.)
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the accounting department.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes.
  • Undergo cross-training in various accounting areas to ensure seamless coverage during employee absences.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation is preferred.
  • 0-2 years of relevant accounting experience within a corporate accounting environment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Solid Understanding of U.S GAAP, general accounting processes and internal controls, and financial analysis tools and techniques
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Work environment is normally in an office setting. Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment

  • Other physical requirements include moderate standing and occasional squatting, bending, and twisting
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
