Job Summary
You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.
  • Assist in the day-to-day responsibilities of the Digital Studio at Northside.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by teaching and assisting customers with the Digital Studio software and equipment.
  • Assist in developing lesson plans, instructional material, and enhancing programs.
  • Teach classes utilizing a variety of software packages, Macs, and related equipment.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment in the Digital Studio.
  • Maintain interdepartmental relationships and seek new ways for Experiential Learning Spaces to serve as a resource to other library departments.
  • Organize and oversee the use of supplies, tools, and materials used in the Digital Studio.
  • Respect the facility and work environment by keeping work area neat, handling minor cleanups, and reporting maintenance issues promptly and appropriately.
  • Interact and communicate pleasantly and effectively with diverse customers and staff, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor and providing friendly, courteous service.
  • Works in other Experiential Spaces as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Ability to sit and operate a computer for extended periods.
  • Sufficient mobility and dexterity to lift and carry books and other library materials.
  • Ability to perform essential functions which require bending, standing, stooping, and lifting moderately heavy equipment, and standing for long periods.
  • Work is often performed in and around equipment requiring adherence to industry safety procedures and guidelines.


Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year related experience required.
  • Excellent digital literacy skills utilizing both PCs and Macs.
  • Proficiency with studio software, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Apple Apps.
  • Proficiency with studio equipment such as scanners, cameras, lighting, 3D printers, and audio equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function in a high-paced and at times stressful environment and apply fundamental library procedures and techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working effectively with a culturally diverse workforce and community.
  • Carry out with limited supervision continuing assignments related to the daily operations of the Digital Studio.
  • Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with customers and staff.
  • Learn and adapt to new and changing technologies.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, with a safe driving record.



  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Conversational Spanish language ability preferred.
