Duties and Responsibilities:

  • **Manages daily operations of 'IKE AO PONO student support program for both undergraduate and graduate students; provides program information/requirements; provides technical support, academic advisement and develops research and computer skills.
  • ** Maintains, updates, collects & administers the overall student progression records and program data and documentation for the preparation for reports and recruitment, retention and graduation.
  • ** Provides technical and academic advisement for the design of recruitment materials for informational and program packets.
  • ** Provides administrative, technical & fiscal support to Program Director and project activities.
  • ** Assists Program Director in maintaining a collaborative relationship w/ the UH partnerships via participation in special activities, i.e., meetings, conferences, special events to promote 'IKE AO PONO program and/or Nursing & other health professions.
  • ** Organizes events to promote community outreach and program funding, researches and writes grants.
  • ** Designs, develops and implements activities to promote cultural enrichment.
  • ** Initiates the recruitment and selection of student assistant(s) via the UH SECE (Student Employment) System.
  • ** Coordinates the work of and/or supervises graduate and/or student assistant(s).
  • ** Conducts research on fundraising opportunities (including online platforms), develops relationships with potential donors and manages small to mid-size fundraising campaigns by coordinating events, writing proposals, developing advertising flyers, recruiting and leading volunteers, and evaluating the campaign, among others.
  • ** Collaborates with the Department of Nursing, Marketing Manager, Events Coordinator, and other relevant NAWSON units as it relates to the various activities in connection with the launching of fundraising campaign events.
  • ** Processes and maintains the documentation for student scholarships and stipends.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in nursing, education, counseling, or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for student support, teaching, counseling, tutoring, and/or project management with emphasis with under presented populations or groups; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  • Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of student support, counseling, and/or project management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  • Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with student services, counseling, and/or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  • If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  • Work or community service experience with underrepresented or underserved populations and or communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing.
  • Possession of excellent oral & written skills to be able to generate various project reports & documents & communicate information to various internal & external organizations.
  • Organized self-starter who possess the ability to problem solve, with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning small to mid-size events.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher degree in nursing, education or counseling.
  • Two or more years working with the Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander and other indigenous communities.
  • Experience in management role such as program manager, office manager, supervisor, etc.
  • Experience providing student support services in a university setting.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse.
