Job Description

Duties

  • Plans, devises, and administers outdoor recreational activities at a U.S. Army Recreation Area.
  • Responsible for the overall management for the 365-days-a-year facility.
  • Water sports, camping, hiking, and other leisure time activities are supported year-round by a military community of active duty and retired military, their dependents, and authorized civilians.
  • Maintains an accurate account of daily sales revenue, operational funds, fixed assets, and property. Formulates feeder information for both APF and NAF budgets.
  • Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing outdoor recreation activities from the standpoint of participants’ response, resources, unforeseen developments, and program evaluations.

Qualifications

1. Directly related work experience that included the goals, principles, method of techniques of outdoor recreation and understanding the interest of individuals and groups.
2. Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs.
3. Work experience supervising support staff in outdoor recreation programs.
4. Demonstrated work experience must be equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.

Highly Preferred Criteria (Must be supported by application package):
1. Possess at least two (2) years experience managing an installation Outdoor Recreation program.
2. Possess at least two (2) years experience developing and implementing APF and NAF program budgets.
3. Possess at least one (1) year experience with Warrior Adventure Quest program.
4. Possess a Wilderness First Aid Certification or higher.
5. Possess experience operating and or supervising Outdoor Recreation programs in a cold weather environment.
6. Possess at least two (2) years experience developing risk assessments and implementing safety controls.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is in the Government's interest. Authorized allowances will not exceed maximum amounts listed in the JTR.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives may be paid.
  • Relocation, Recruitment and/or Retention incentive not to exceed 25% of annual salary may be authorized.
  • Incentives may require up to a 2 year service agreement.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
  • Eligible for 1.69% COLA (subject to change without notice).
