General Scope of Job

The Supply Chain & Master Data Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining SAP vendor, customer and material master data and for various planning and purchasing requirements in the business. This role is accountable for ensuring that all data is accurately and efficiently maintained and must understand the impact of master data on business performance, and for creating and managing an accurate production schedules and instructions for internal and external suppliers that considers shop floor capacity, customer priorities, raw material, and data integrity. The position reviews material requirements, schedules production orders to meet customer due dates, maintains communication with customer service, and works with the production team to ensure schedules are executed and attained. He/she is involved with quality improvement and cost reduction initiatives to improve plant performance. The position maintains a focus on order management, production efficiency, and inventory control to ensure the business can achieve its specific goals and objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage and complete master data maintenance requests (daily, routine and ad-hoc), including but not limited to creating or updating vendor, customer and material master.
  • Review/analyze incoming master data requests to understand desired outcome, assess appropriate course of action and execute tasks to complete requests.
  • Ensure all data requests are entered completely and accurately, and in compliance with policies and procedures set by the company, including verification that all required supporting documentation and approvals are received prior to data entry.
  • Create, provide, and distribute manufacturing job instructions and/or production schedules for each required process and or position which optimizes equipment utilization, inventory levels, and satisfies customer requirements.
  • Act as the primary Value Chain contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding job instructions, job related materials, and secondary manufacturing processes
  • Daily planning and scheduling for products within multiple work centers
  • Identify, understand, and communicate production plans / instructions with the appropriate individuals (including Production, Customer Service, Procurement, Engineering, Category Management, etc.) and discuss issues and results related to work center availability and service.
  • Identify supplier, machine, and labor capacity roadblocks and or bottlenecks and offer plans to overcome them as efficiently as possible.
  • Respond to all internal and external customer messages within the expected timeframes.
  • Monitor production by collecting production logs; comparing progress to schedule, published instructions, and job costing.
  • Open and process manufacturing orders, job specific purchase requisitions.
  • Manage manufacturing orders / purchase requisitions based on changing customer needs.
  • Communicate priorities and workflow processes throughout the value chain as required.
  • Prepares production reports
  • Monitor, maintain and control inventory levels of both finished goods and work in process materials to meet customer delivery dates. Use MRP system to ensure proper material management for materials needed to ensure production schedules are met
  • Determines and periodically reviews Finished Goods and Raw material min/max levels.
  • Collaborate and communicate scheduling changes to customer service, and the manufacturing floor.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency relative to stability, cost, service, and quality.
  • Monitor to ensure all ERP system parameters and settings are maintained and updated to align with the Business Unit, Operations and Supply Chain goals.
  • Use various analytical skills, reports, and exception messages to manage the production planning.
  • Analyze historical product demand patterns, trends and other business information to ensure proper production planning.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety policies.
  • Support change management and training efforts to ensure process improvement solutions are adopted and leveraged for maximum benefit.
  • Recommend improvements and provide support required to enable process standardization and optimization.
  • Train End Users on SAP Master Data Governance related processes and procedures.
  • Work independently to complete day-to-day deliverables.
  • Build effective relationships across all departments
  • Other duties as assigned


Education and/or Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in planning and/or master data, in a manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of SAP required
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field a plus
  • Microsoft Platforms
  • Effective problem solving and organization skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Proven ability to meet scheduled deadlines
  • Solid business acumen and willingness to learn
  • Ability to travel occasionally if required
