Purpose of Job The Supply Chain Technician serves as member of the Material Management team supporting the clinical staff in the annual planning, daily management and ongoing monitoring of the medical supply expense budget which includes the coordination and provision for supplies and equipment that enable patient care in the hospital. Competency is evidenced by maintaining established supply chain metrics and by communicating key supply chain information such as supply and equipment availability. Communication skills are inherent in all these activities. This position consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Emory Healthcare's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to the applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Emory Healthcare's policies and procedures. Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other and our customers. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Manage medical supply stocking levels (PARS) within the assigned healthcare facility to include ancillary departments (does not include ASC). This includes making recommendations to par level adjustments and ordering appropriately so that supply cost per unit of service stays in alignment with the clinical unit's budget. 2. Perform physical receipt of goods and validate shipping against packing slip. This includes FedEx, UPS, and USPS deliveries in addition to capital equipment deliveries. Perform receipt of goods in the eProcurement system within 72 hours of physical delivery. 3. Coordinate deliveries and vendor-managed supplies (e.g. linen) with contracted suppliers. 4. Manage outstanding backorders and receipts by executing respective queries in the procurement system daily or weekly. 5. Manage receiving discrepancies and communicate with Purchasing, Accounts Payable and suppliers, as needed. Manage RTVs (returns to vendor). 6. Manage healthcare related equipment, entering required information into the appropriate tracking system as needed. Communicate with clinical engineering for timely maintenance and repair of equipment. 7. Deliver medical equipment and supplies to the clinical supply closets. Rotate and stock product as needed based on a first in, first out model. 8. Responsible for the inventory management in the clinical supply areas: organize supply areas, manage shelf life/expiring products, removing unused supplies etc. 9. Responsible for the inventory management of our code blue carts that are delivered to various units during a Medical Alert Code Blue overhead or telephone call. 10. Other duties as assigned to support supply chain operations. Minimum Qualifications Experience 1. One year's experience in supply chain preferred. 2. Supply chain experience means experience establishing and managing par levels and storage closets (e.g. rotating stock, validating product recalls and expiration dates) 3. Demonstrated experience collaborating with other departments to research and solve complex problems. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of medical/surgical services and supplies and inventory preferred. Education and Training 1. High school or GED required. 2. Computer knowledge/skills required. 3. Associate Degree in Business or Health Care related preferred.
