Job Description

Infant, Toddler, and Preschool Teachers Aides

Our part-time teacher's aides work closely with the full-time staff to manage the classroom and meet the developmental and safety needs of the children in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the school, under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate classroom curriculum and in all aspects of the daily management of the program, including compliance with the safety and health standards established by the government of the District of Columbia.
  • Foster each child's self-confidence, learning, and growth.
  • Nurture and encourage children through positive communication.
  • Maintain health compliance in accordance with licensing standards and employee policies, including the ability to interact fully with all students, lifting, holding, and attending to them as needed at all times.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

Teacher's Aide Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Degree in Early Childhood or a related field preferred.
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must clear full background check.
  • Must pass health screening.
  • Prior experience or familiarity with the Creative Curriculum.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills; able to work well with a team.
  • Effective multitasker; can prioritize tasks based on importance and deadlines.
  • Compliance with all state education and licensing standards required
  • Candidate must be mature, dependable, energetic, and enjoy working with children.

Compensation and Benefits Information: This is a paid part-time teaching position. Hourly rate of pay between $16.50 and $18.00 based on experience/credentials.

Benefits include Pre-Tax Commuter Benefits, AFLAC participation, and Paid Leave. The position is up to 25 hours a week.

Flexible Schedule:

This part-time position allows you to take on a morning (8am-12pm), mid-day (11 am-3pm) or afternoon (2:00pm-6:00pm) shifts Monday through Friday. Any additional availability you may have can be listed to allow you to take on additional hours as a substitute in the classroom on an on-call basis.
