Summary/Objective
The Tool and Die Maker provides technical expertise and supports the Operations team in the areas of tooling. The role is also responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, or recommending repair of existing tools. The Tool and Die Maker assists and assures that all tools and dies are effective in meeting production goals.
Essential Functions

1. Assures specific quality guidelines are met and, if necessary, takes appropriate actions and measures to rectify quality issues.
2. Ensures that safety regulations, environmental protection, Work Instructions and the Escalation Matrix are respected.
3. Provides technical assistance during process and tooling development to meet setup and process capability.
4. Advises in the process of setting priorities for Tryout Resources to support tooling trials, CI projects, tooling design efforts, and production troubleshooting.
5. Ensures tooling capability, longevity, and production repeatability.
6. Provides technical support and problem solving expertise to production, as required.
7. Sets up, tries, and develops new tooling including but not limited to new rolls, pre-notch dies, and cutoff dies which have been made to design.
8. Develops tooling to insure that it will produce quality product at, or in excess of, standard rate of, before tooling is released to production.
9. Uses good communication skills to interact with customer, and communicate suggestions for improvement in tool design and tryout.
10. Troubleshoots technical issues related to tools and dies.
11. Keeps all required records and maintains a clean work area.
12. Follows all guidelines set forth in our 5s training.
13. Other duties and responsibilities can be assigned based on company needs and skills level.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position. This role operates on a shift schedule. Shifts are scheduled on three levels, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Based on shift schedule, this position will work at least 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. As production demands it, this role will be required to work overtime hours including weekend.
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 2 years’ machine shop experience
Preferred Education and Experience
Associates Degree
Tool and Die Certification from an accredited technical college
3-D Modeling.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Review and provide timely and accurate estimates of costs including “specials”.
Act as a resource to assist in development of subcontractor service specifications.
Work with sales personnel and customers to develop optimum product design to fit our capabilities.
Consult with operations, engineering, and tool planner on optimum product design to fit our capabilities.
