Position: Route Helper

Rate of Pay: $16. - $17.00 per hour
Reports to: Dispatcher Manager and Route Driver
Department: Route Transportation
Work Schedule / Shift: (Full-Time) Monday – Friday - Days will range from 3am to 7am start and end around 3pm to 6pm Monday through Thursday or Friday depending on the workload.

Job Summary:

This job is a manual labor position, driver helpers are assigned to drivers and/or routes for the purpose of assisting drivers in the collection of waste tires from contracted sites. During the route as a driver helper the employee will be under the supervision of the driver. You will assist the driver in backing the truck into position, loading the truck and if necessary, spotting hazards in the roadway during their on the road time.

Our customers range from mom-and-pop shops to the big box stores. We are seeking someone reliable and who is consistently timely. Punctuality and dependability are a must!

Key Responsibilities:

• Must be HARDWORKING – MOTIVATED – RESPONSIBLE.
• Must be able to lift and load tires of all sizes (personal vehicle, truck and tractor tires)
• Must maintain a customer service attitude in demanding situations
• Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety standards
• Other duties will be assigned as necessary by the company

Qualifications required:

• Must be physically capable of climbing in a trailer unassisted and in a safe manner to reduce injury.
• Lace tires in a safe manner to reduce injury and maintain a secure load during transport.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public
• Ability to work independently with general instructions
• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
• Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impact on the company.

The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, turning, climbing to a significant degree, and/or pulling of controls.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds or force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
