Methodist Rehabilitation Center has an immediate opening for a PRN Unit Clerk to support our Brain Injury Unit.
SHIFT:
- 7am - 7pm
- Every other Saturday and Sunday
BASIC FUNCTION:
- Provides patient-related secretarial/clerical services, order entry, and medical record maintenance for a nursing unit
- Regulates the flow of information among patients, families, visitors, and staff to facilitate routine unit activities
- Provides for efficient work flow; receives and initiates nurse calls and telephone calls courteously and appropriately
- Handles confidential information regarding patients and staff according to hospital and national standards
- Initiates actions required to obtain services, treatment, supplies, and equipment as ordered in the physician order sheet
- Keeps unit and patient records in current order, with appropriate stationary and patient identification
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate or equivalent required; some college education desirable
- Secretarial /clerical skills; computer operation essential
- Ability to courteously and effectively communicate with patients, family, caregivers, all levels of staff
- Medical terminology experience preferred; able to work independently
- *Previous experience as a Unit Clerk/Secretary strongly preferred*
