Job Description Summary

The Wind Engineering Executive Operations Leader will partner with the VP of Wind Engineering, their staff and HR to develop strategy leading to the organizations Vision state. Topics such as how we organize, how we work, how we design, manufacture, service as well as culture will be within their influence.
Primarily, the role will have direct responsibility for how the Engineering team runs. This includes, but is not limited to, portfolio management, demand/capacity forecasts, budget projections and actuals, operating cadence, creation of standard work and daily management.
They will coordinate with other departments and functions to ensure that NPIs are completed on time and within budget. They will identify and implement ways to improve collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Services, and Customers to enhance Safety, Delivery, Quality, and Cost.

Essential Responsibilities

  • QMS – including evaluation of current effectiveness and potential simplification and integration into daily management to increase impact
  • Training, EEDP including consideration of “what Engineering will look like in 5-10 years” to align talent strategy with future outlook.
  • Develop the vision for how we set our strategic priorities as well ensure priority alignment across the engineering community & cross-functional partners/stakeholders (e.g. product management & manufacturing)
  • Develop, own and drive the Wind Engineering Bowler. Activate daily management across the whole of the Engineering teams.
  • Build and drive standard work across the product program management offices, engineering, and related stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and best practices. Monitor key performance indicators and analyze data to drive operational efficiencies.
  • Foster a world class operations culture. Deliver strong daily management operating mechanisms, improve visual management, and ensure culture of accountability.
  • Partner with stakeholders to set clear metrics with the most significant impact on the business and drive operational rigor and accountability.
  • Own the overall engineering budget ensuring accurate forecasts, strong controls on discretionary spend, and overall execution to optimize spend.
  • Own engineering program portfolios. Coordinate what we do, how much it costs, resource planning, flight boards, etc
  • Be an effective team member of the Wind Engineering staff across both technical and operational execution.
  • Identify, sometimes lead and follow up on Lean events across the Engineering organization to improve say/do and productivity and overall working experience for the team.
  • Responsible for the strategy & execution of the tool suite including resource management, scheduling, purchase orders, vouchering, etc.
  • Lead configuration and change management processes across Engineering while partnering with Supply Chain and others to drive closed loop implementation.
  • Build, mentor & lead a high-performing team. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment. Create culture of empowerment, coaching, and talent development

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%
