Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Job Description

Nature of Work:

Works with community organizations, private schools and mostly with Anne Arundel County Public Schools to develop, implement and sustain vibrant SADD chapters in Anne Arundel County. Supports the mission of SADD by creating, equipping and sustaining a network of student-run chapters in schools and communities focused on peer-to-peer education. SADD fosters a sense of belonging and promotes resiliency, leadership and advocacy skills so that young people make positive life decisions that will carry them throughout life. Establishes a youth network to work in partnership with the local substance misuse prevention coalitions and to implement substance misuse activities with their peers.

Provide coordination and technical assistance to the SADD Chapters. Maintain an updated chapter list throughout the school year. Communicate with SADD National on current initiatives. Organize the annual SADD Conference including leading the SADD Planning Committee. Develop educational materials for youth on current substance misuse prevention topics. Write technical reports including strategic plans and program evaluation reports. Conduct substance misuse presentations to youth and youth-serving organizations. Analyze youth-serving programs addressing substance misuse in the county to identify opportunities to increase health equity for disenfranchised youth.

Develop and monitor grant programs for the SADD Chapters to ensure they comply with grant agreements including project narrative and budget reports. Establish procedures and internal monitoring and reporting systems to ensure effective grant program administration and compliance with the MD Consortium Grant. Maintain an up-to-date database of grant information, including a calendar of grant deadlines, a summary of grant program requirements. and grant implementation progress. Monitors program budgets and tracks programmatic expenditures. Perform analysis, prepare documentation, formulate potential solutions, write reports and memos, and prepare and make presentations, all tasks related to the MD Consortium grant progress.

As time allows, provide presentations, exhibits and trainings to other audiences on substance misuse prevention topics. Respond to call-down drills or actual emergency events as soon as possible, regardless of when the message is received.


Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, social work or related field from an accredited college or university.


Experience:

Organizing and hosting youth conferences on substance misuse prevention topics; providing training to youth on substance misuse prevention topics; public relations with different organizations and community stakeholders; grant procedures and internal monitoring and reporting systems; program budgets and programmatic expenditures tracking and reporting; grant reporting, data collection and analysis; and public speaking on public health topics.


Notes:

A bachelor’s degree in the required fields may be substituted by a bachelor’s degree in another field, plus two years of substance misuse prevention work with youth.
