The Coordinator of Congregational Care is responsible for the development, supervision, and implementation of all congregational care and caring support ministries at Aldersgate. This coordinator provides experience and leadership to serve the needs of the Aldersgate congregation and their families, and supports the congregation through prayer, counseling, and encouragement. This coordinator may also participate in the planning and leading of worship services as needed, including preaching.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

· Develop a process to insure that all homebound and infirmed are visited on a regular basis

· Attend to the needs of the congregation by making hospital, nursing home, and homebound visits. When necessary, offer instructions on counseling for those who are caregivers

· Support the Senior Pastor by being available to assist with planning and conducting funerals and grief care follow up

· Stay informed of new and effective ways to develop the ministry of congregational care and share such knowledge with others in the church

· As needed, participate in the planning and leading of worship services, both regular and special seasonal services, and prepare and preach the sermon approximately once per month

· Attend staff meetings

· Establish and maintain a consistent weekly schedule that includes regular office hours

· Recruit, train, and resource lay caring teams.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Christian caring resources, program design, planning, and organization

Ability to maintain confidential data and respect the confidential nature of individual membership records and conversations

Possession of excellent oral and written communication and listening skills; excellence in interpersonal relationship skills, and experience in conflict resolution

Knowledge of relevant legal and ethical issues

Possess an understanding of the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of adults, especially senior adults

Exhibit a passion for training, empowering and care of volunteers.

Job Type: Part-time
