Northern Nevada State Veterans Home is currently seeking a Dietary Aide!

Summary/Objective: Assist in food preparation and serving of resident specific diet requirements under the
supervision of the Dietary Services Manager or Cook. Assist in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the
kitchen and dining areas.

Essential Functions

• Food preparation, serving and cleaning:

o Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks. Use portion control procedures.
o Assist in cleaning and sanitizing work areas, equipment and floors, dishes and utensils
o Assist in checking trays for menu and diet preferences and accuracy.
o Ensure proper storage of foods and supplies.
o Adhere to universal precautions and sanitary and infection control policies and procedures.

• Supplies:

o Ensure that food and supplies are available for the next meals and assist in inventorying and storing
incoming foods and supplies.

• Customer Service:

o Provide compassionate resident care services.
o Establish and maintain positive interactions with internal and external customers, including co-
workers.
o Take responsibility for resolving issues and concerns striving for a win-win outcome. Customers
include residents, families, vendors and other employees. Report issues to a supervisor or other
facility management when appropriate.
o Answer call lights promptly.
o Present a professional appearance.
