Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our HR leadership team with a new opportunity for a Manager Employee Relations. This position will be responsible for managing and maintaining relationships between employees and the employer, handling employee complaints, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies. The Employee Relations Manager serves as a liaison between leadership and employees, advocating for fair and equitable treatment and resolving conflicts effectively.

Compensation
$109,280 - $130,000
Exempt Grade 18
  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. All offers presented to candidates are carefully reviewed to ensure fair, equitable pay by offering competitive wages that align with the individual's skills, education, experience, and training. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts.
What you’ll do
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote positive employee relations and a healthy work culture
  • Address employee concerns, and conflicts in a timely and confidential manner
  • Conduct investigations into employee complaints, allegations of misconduct, or policy violations
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and department leaders to resolve employee issues and ensure consistency in disciplinary actions
  • Accountable for HR compliance including, but not limited to: sponsored employees, contingent workers, EEO posters, AAP reporting, policy updates, required audits, and unemployment
  • Stay up-to date with labor laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance
  • Assist in development, implementation, and communication of company policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on interpreting and applying company policies fairly and consistently
  • Facilitate open communication channels between employees and management, encouraging feedback and dialogue through different avenues such as focus groups
  • Promote a culture of transparency, trust, and mutual respect across the organization
  • Support managers in coaching sessions, and performance improvement plans
  • Provide guidance on handling performance related issues, including disciplinary actions and terminations
  • Identify training needs related to employee relations and collaborate with our learning and development team to create sessions for managers and employees
  • Maintain accurate records of employee relations activities, including investigations, resolutions and outcomes
  • Prepare reports and metrics related to employee relations trends, issues, and outcomes for management review.
What you need
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other relevant field of study; in lieu of degree 8+ years of proven experience in employee relations, HR with a solid understanding of employment laws and regulations.
  • Minimum of 3+ years leading a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolutions skills, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact and discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement employee relations programs and initiatives that support a positive work culture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
