Project Manager

POSITION LOCATION

Richmond, VA or

Lynchburg, VA

This position offers a hybrid schedule, requiring at least 2 days onsite in the office (Tuesday and Wednesday).

YOUR ROLE

As a member of the Project Management Office, you'll play a crucial role in managing initiatives that support our ability to deliver world class customer service and capabilities to our policyholders-now and in the future. The projects supported by this role will span across multiple business functions and technology platforms calling on breadth of technical and project management skillsets.

What you will be doing

  • Lead cross functional project teams through complex, high impact projects
  • Manage multiple projects using widely accepted project methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile/LEAN, SDLC or similar)
  • Lead team efforts to develop new or revised processes/procedures across multiple operational and business areas
  • Motivate and direct team members to build cooperative project teams to conduct research and analysis to quantify business opportunities and issues and develop formal recommendations for presentation to management
  • Work independently and with mid-level and senior management on complex projects and supervise project sub-teams
  • Apply project management tools and methods to manage project scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, communication, resources and suppliers
  • Develop, integrate, and execute plans for large cross-functional projects requiring multiple work-streams and sub-plans
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis for projects. Validate cost and benefit assumptions with stakeholders, resource managers and process owners.
  • Conduct written and oral project updates for senior management and business leaders

What you bring

  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic relationships and lead customer focused projects across organizational boundaries
  • Excellent planning, organizational and execution skills
  • Strong communication (oral, written, interpersonal and presentation) skills
  • Demonstrated experience interacting & collaborating with business areas in gathering, documenting and developing business scope for projects
  • Results oriented, ability to meet and exceed objectives and handle multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Strong analytical and business problem solving skills
  • Proficient in various MS Personal Computing Programs (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport with business partners/stakeholders
