Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Project Management (level 2) / Principal Project Management (level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be a full-time remote opportunity.

This role involves technology scouting for the Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector (NGAS). As part of the Research and Advanced Design division, the Tech Scouting organization matches early-stage startup companies to the needs of our customers with the goal of deploying novel technologies to enhance existing NGAS products/services and enable new ones. This position demands exceptional verbal and written communications skills, strategic thinking and planning, research skills, project management, the ability to quickly understand a wide range of technologies at a sufficient depth to discriminate legitimacy and value (as well as create and execute experiments to validate claims), and an understanding of startup and small business practices and fund raising. Aptitudes for both critical, reductive analysis and creative invention are required. An ideal candidate with have experience with technology development within a large organization, as well as on the very small scale (at a startup, small business, etc)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and distill technology needs from across the NGAS sector from chief engineers, chief architects, R&AD directors, subject matter experts, and more.

  • Research and discover startup and other small companies creating technologies that might be useful to NG and its’ customers.

  • Identify opportunities to introduce novel, discriminating technologies into programs and pursuits.

  • Build and communicate narratives for engagement with identified (and aligned) startups.

  • Handle the logistical interactions of working with startups (NDAs, drafting statements of work, etc.)

  • Create and maintain relationships between startup companies and NG stakeholders (tech adopters) for collaborative technology development, maturation, or adoption.

  • Develop concepts for Minimum Viable Engagements (MVE) between startups and NG

  • Execute MVEs (project management)

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Project Management (level 2): Bachelor's degree and 3 years (or Bachelor of Science in STEM and 2 years) of related experience as defined below, OR a Master’s degree and 1 years (or Master of Science in STEM and 0 years) of related experience as defined below.

  • Principal Project Management (level 3) - Bachelor's degree and 6 years (or Bachelor of Science in STEM and 5 years) of related experience as defined below, OR a Master’s degree and 4 years (or Master of Science in STEM and 3 years) of related experience as defined below

  • Related experience includes professional and/or military experience to include a background in project management, program management, engineering, capture efforts, and/or business management related functions.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skill

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project)

  • Knowledge of Project Management principles

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) in addition to STEM degree

  • Startup funding / venture capital experience

  • Experience maturing technologies from idea to deployed product

  • Familiarity with the DoD innovation landscape and current trends in defense priorities

  • Project or program management experience

Salary Range: $65,500 - $98,300
Salary Range 2: $80,600 - $121,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
