A.S.K. Foods, Inc. is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician. Shift hours would start at 2pm or 11pm. Preference will be discussed during your phone screening.
QA Technicians are responsible for ensuring that ingredients and finished food products complies with all safety and quality specifications and that they follow SQF, USDA Meat and Poultry, FDA Seafood and FDA HARPC requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Oversee loading of trucks and receiving of ingredients and packaging as required
· Monitor cooking processes
· Conduct pre-operational inspections of all production areas
· Conduct plant and freezer temperature checks
· Conduct metal detector checks and code verifications
· Check and maintain sanitizer levels
· Conduct monthly facility inspections
· Taste and evaluate batch samples
· Maintain sample retention library (frozen and refrigerated products)
· Complete product weight checks
· Conduct ATP swabbing
· Monitor and ensure proper storage practices of ingredients including allergens
· Monitor GMP compliance
· Troubleshoot problems whenever they occur
· Calibrate thermometers and scales
· Monitor thawing and ingredient “use by dates”
· Follow up on sanitation and maintenance work order requests by inspecting equipment or area
· Assist in reviewing daily paperwork
· Maintain records of temperature checks (print out Wi-Fi graphs, charts from recorders)
· Quarterly glass/brittle plastic audit
· Oversee transfer of product between facilities
· Assist with mock recall activities
· Conduct verification checks of labels on all packaging lines to ensure that they are correct.
· Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Knowledge of FDA, USDA GMPP, SOP, HACCP, sanitation, chemical safety, pest control and food allergens.
· Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others in a team setting.
· Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to handle multiple priorities.
· Ability to work overtime as required
Ability to understand, read, write and communicate using the English language; read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, etc; communicate using simple sentences.
Ability to keep accurate and detailed records
Must be able to smell and taste
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in food industry is preferred
