Position Title: Distribution Supervisor
Location: Geismar, LA
Monday - Friday 12:30 pm to 9 pm

The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for all phases of distribution including daily truck routing (inter-company shuttles, trailer and bulk deliveries), monitoring delivery vehicle maintenance, recordkeeping, and driver safety oversight. The Distribution Supervisor is responsible for maximizing delivery service in a safe and efficient manner. Supervises drivers and coordinates special requirements with Plant Manager and shift leads.

In particular, you will:

  • Directly supervise drivers, providing leadership, regarding safe work habits.

  • Manage availability of drivers and equipment, including all vehicle maintenance requirements, to ensure that adequate resources are available to meet distribution/customer needs.

  • Control distribution costs and maximize service response through balancing of daily routes and overall system optimization.

  • Drive continuous improvement in daily distribution operations.

  • Champion distribution efficiency initiatives for the location, including demand leveling.

  • Review and process daily all Department of Transportation (DOT) documentation; vehicle condition reports and drivers' hours of service, route efficiency and completion.

  • Review incoming orders for accuracy and unusual requirements.

  • Communicate unusual requirements for production planning.

  • Review returned trips for paperwork accuracy and completeness, and unfulfilled orders.

  • Review open orders for status and closure.

  • Prepare load sheets, delivery tickets and manifests and highlights any critical customer requirements.

  • Ensure loads are accurate and complete.

Are you a MATCH?

  • College degree in supply chain management, logistics management or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership experience in a distribution environment.

  • Knowledge of truck routing and shipping of hazardous materials.

  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and FDA requirements.

  • Working knowledge of SAP and Google Applications

  • Self-starter, self-motivated, independent, well-organized with attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with others in both favorable and unfavorable situations regardless of status or position. Accepts cultural diversity and establishes effective working relationships.

  • Strong analytical skills; competency for understanding metrics and ability to present and communicate to all levels of the organization and external customers.

  • Leadership skills; Identifies requirements; allocates, and effectively uses information, personnel, time, and other resources necessary for goal accomplishment; establishes appropriate courses of action for self and/or others to accomplish specific goals; develops evaluation criteria and tracking systems for monitoring goal progress and accomplishment; and specifies objectives, schedules, and priorities.
