Job Description

The Arena Control Room Supervisor is responsible for supervising control room operations which includes ensuring the control room systems are operating at peak efficiency and operational protocols are enabling sound risk management practices and for supervision of control room operators. This role is the main point of contact for all vendor deliveries to the arena loading dock during the day. Additionally, this person acts as the dispatcher during arena events.
Location: GCU Main Campus, 33rd and Camelback
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 11pm to 7am, must flex for events

What You Will Do:
  • Oversees all shipping and receiving.
  • Oversees and coordinates all loading dock entry and parking including, but not limited to, daily staff parking and event parking.
  • Communicates all arena building emergencies to management team.
  • Coordinates all security related issues and emergencies with the Public Safety Department/ management team.
  • Serves as main communication contact for arena control room by answering the main Arena Control Room phone line.
  • Monitors all BMS systems (Building Management Systems) including but not limited to: lighting, HVAC and fire alarm under the direction of management team.
  • Manages, tracks and records all daily radio usage and placement. Check in and out radios daily to staff as needed.
  • Manages, tracks and records all distribution of keys and access badges to outside vendors
  • Facilitates the load in and load out of Republic trash roll off.
  • Reports BMS issues to management team. as needed.
  • May assist with interpreting signals from CCTV communications and alarm activations and initiating appropriate action.
  • Will be required to operate a forklift at the arena loading dock, as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the Arena Control Room.
  • Frequent contact with vendors, staff, students, guests, and/or members of the surrounding communities.
What You Will Have:
  • MS Office Suite, Excel and PowerPoint and familiarity with software databases.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations regarding safety and security of public facility.
  • Good communications and interpersonal skills; ability to speak Spanish or other non-English language, is preferred.
  • Must cope and adapt to changing priorities, work in a fast-paced environment and under stressful conditions which can occur frequently. Knowledge of customer services principles. Cooperative, collaborative and a team leader. Demonstrate positive customer service in all interactions.
  • Work requires visual acuity to monitor control room monitors to view movement/activity throughout facility.
  • Must have the flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays in order to support the Arena’s event driven schedule.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Staff supervision which includes personnel activities, such as, hiring, work scheduling, communications, and performance feedback. Oversite of BMS system and coordinates with Arena Operations Manager, as needed. Previous experience for control room operations which involved emergency dispatch and coordination in facility with high volume events/activities.

Minimum 2 years shipping and receiving experience is required. Minimum 2 years of Building Management Systems (BMS) experience is preferred. Forklift certification is required. Will be trained.
  • High school diploma, or equivalent is required.
  • Must pass pre-employment background investigation.
